Soul Sisters is a domestic abuse charity supporting women and non-binary people in the North West. When we first spoke about their website, it was clear that their current online presence wasn’t doing them justice. The old site was just a couple of pages, hard to navigate, not ranking on Google, and – crucially – not providing the safe, informative space they needed to reach survivors, advocates, and supporters.
As a trustee and passionate supporter of the charity, I took this project on pro bono. The brief was to create a site that:
Clearly shares Soul Sisters’ mission and vision
Provides safe, accessible information for victims and survivors
Makes it easy to donate
Features a regularly updated news and blog section
Includes features like a safety exit, timetable, and clear contact information
We worked closely with the founder to ensure every word, colour and feature was approached with sensitivity and care. I led the design, branding, copy and SEO -crafting a site that felt safe, calm and hopeful. The tone of voice was warm but clear, ensuring people in crisis could find exactly what they needed, quickly.
The result is a 10-page WordPress website with:
A soft but bold brand refresh
Trauma-informed copywriting
Mobile-first, accessible design
A fully integrated blog and news hub
Donation and contact forms
A live timetable for community sessions
SEO optimised structure to improve search visibility

Soul Sisters now has a digital home that matches the strength of its mission. Survivors can access the help they need, funders and supporters can understand the impact of their work, and the team can confidently grow their online presence with a site that’s fit for purpose.
I continue to offer ongoing support and strategy as both a web designer and trustee.
